Northwest String Summit

We’ve been busy planning and booking here at String Summit HQ, and we’re ecstatic to share some of the amazing talent on tap for this summer’s event!

Our perennial musically-gifted hosts Yonder Mountain String Band will perform THREE incredible nights of music, and are sure to have tons of surprises in store for all of us. Back for their ninth NWSS, our good buddies and core family Greensky Bluegrass will bring  TWO unforgettable nights of music to the main stage. We welcome back the legendary Del McCoury Band, along with another hot bluegrass set from The Travelin’ McCourys.

New to String Summit is the one and only JJ Grey & Mofro, guaranteed to get us movin’ and shakin’ throughout our day. Our great friends Elephant Revival are back with TWO special nights of music. Fruition, PDX locals who are blowing up the scene, are also back for TWO nights, and you know they’ll be spotted all throughout the festival! New this year is Turkuaz, a Brooklyn-based funk band that is leaving their mark on stages coast-to-coast, and will be sure to do the same for our late night Saturday funk party! We welcome back the Shook Twins and the California Honeydrops, each performing TWO sets. Locals Blitzen Trapper will do their groovy thing while making their String Summit debut. The Trampled By Turtles side project Dead Man Winter as well as North Carolina based Chatham County Line will also be performing at String Summit for the first time.

We love our 2013 String Summit Band Competition winners, The Lil’ Smokies, and they are prepared to set the Main Stage ablaze this year! Danny Barnes will have some tricks up his sleeve that we won’t want to miss, and our String Summit family member Scott Law will be back for TWO sets, featuring a special set of Scott Law & Ruos James’ Cosmic Twang, and a rare set from Portland’s elusive Ducky Pig. We welcome back 2016 Band Competition Winners Ginstrings to play a full set, and our new buddies Horseshoes & Hand Grenades will return for a couple high energy sets. Crow & The Canyon, Cascade Crescendo, The Kitchen Dwellers, Brad Parsons, and The Good Time Travelers with Pete Kartsounes will all be back this year, each bringing their own unique sounds to String Summit. The Rumpke Mountain Boys will no doubt bring their Midwestern trashgrass for some weird, wild, and amazing sets of music, and our dear friend Arthur Lee Land will be back again to curate our plethora of workshop sets.

Some more newcomers that we are extremely excited to welcome aboard are Midwestern old time artist, Charlie Parr; Canadian bluegrass talent, Slocan Ramblers; California pickers and Earth advocates who will curate some fun Kid’s Area music and workshops, the Banana Slug String Band, Colorado based cover band doing things their own way, the DeadPhish Orchestra; as well as Midwest bands, Old Salt Union and The Last Revel.

How can it get any better? Don’t worry, it will! There are so many more to be announced, so stay tuned! Tier 2 4-Day Passes and 3-Day Passes, Parking Passes and Basecamp Glamping packages are ON SALE NOW!
