Know the Horning’s Hideout RULES before you arrive

Terms & Conditions for ticket holders.

19th Annual Northwest String Summit will take place Thursday, July 21 – Sunday, July 24, 2022 at beautiful Horning’s Hideout, North Plains, OR.

Ticketing Information

Pass include admission for date specified on ticket and unreserved primitive camping for respective days. All cars will be required to purchase a parking pass at an additional fee. Children 10 years old and under are FREE with paying adult. The Northwest String Summit is a rain or shine event.

No refunds will be given for inclement weather.

Parking Information  Parking Fee to be paid in advance or upon arrival. All cars will need a parking pass. You may come and go, but you will need to have the parking pass visible or you will be charged parking again upon returning.

Thursday, 10:00AM – Approx Midnight

Friday, 8:00AM – 10:00PM

Saturday, 8:00AM – 10:00PM

Sunday, 8:00AM – 4:00PM

*Gates will open to public at approximately 10:00AM on Thursday.

*If you arrive after midnight, you will not be allowed down into the amphitheater and could be turned around. Please plan accordingly.

Camping Information

4-Day Pass prices include  primitive camping Thursday through Sunday. 3-Day Pass price includes primitive camping Friday – Sunday. And If available, 2-Day Passes will primitive camping Saturday – Sunday. We strongly encourage everyone to purchase their Parking Pass in advance of arrival to Horning’s Hideout. RV Passes are required for RVs to enter property. More info below. Thursday Entry/Pass – With the addition of Thursday Main Stage entertainment you can now buy 4-Day Passes in advance at different pricing date dependent and while supplies last. Gates will open for 4-Day Pass holders approximately at  10:00AM Thursday.

If you purchased a 3-Day Pass and wish to add Thursday entry by purchasing a Thursday Add-on Pass additionally available. Please note that same camping regulations apply for early arrivals. The gates open to the public beginning Thursday at approximately 10:00 AM. Gates will close Monday, at 12:00pm. Horning’s Hideout offers primitive camping only, unless RV pass is purchased. The camping areas will be separate from the parking areas. A Family Camping area will be open to anyone wishing to camp with children or otherwise enjoy a more quiet camping experience. We ask that noise and partying be kept out of this area.

String Summit is a strong family-oriented festival. We have a designated family camping area where quiet hours are observed. We also have a “Kid’s & Family Area” that features all manner of arts and crafts. String Summit volunteers are on hand to facilitate and provide limited supplies.

Please note this is not a day-care or babysitting service. Volunteers cannot accept responsibility for your children. We encourage parents to supervise and participate. In order to minimize the trauma of lost children, children under 10, who are admitted free with paying adult, will not be permitted to enter or exit the amphitheater without a responsible adult.

Even non-paying children are required to wear a wristband. We encourage you to stop by the kid’s tent and write their name on their band with permanent marker. If you do lose a child please report it immediately to a radio wearing security person. We will then lock down the amphitheater until your child is located. Please keep your little ones well fed and well hydrated, and don’t forget to keep them protected from the sun. Sunscreen and hats are strongly encouraged for everyone, especially kids! Hoola Hoops and safe toys are always welcome.

Parking and RV Information

RV passes are limited . When they sell out there will be no more available, please do not bring your RV to the NWSS without a RV Pass.

RV is considered any oversized vehicle that will not fit into a single parking space (>19ft long), trailered camper, and/or attached camper to pick-up. Vans will not be considered RVs. To park in RV world, patron must have a RV pass.  If a vehicle is oversized it is considered a RV and therefore must have a RV pass. There is no other oversized parking or trailer parking available anywhere at venue. Patrons may sleep in their vehicles – but no tents or camping gear can be set up in parking lots. Recreational Vehicles, RV Trailers and Buses with RV Passes will be parked in a separate area. RENTED BOX VANS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED.Vans will not be considered RVs. Qualifying vehicles only permitted in RV world – regardless of purchase of an RV pass, non-qualified vehicles shall be directed to park in regular parking areas.

There are no electric hook ups or dump stations available on site at all- not even for Artists and Crew. The RV Parking Lot is limited in size. Space in this lot is available by special RV pass basis only. Leveling shims (boards or similar) are recommended. For other vehicles that people intend to sleep in that are undersized (vans, pickups with canopies) we will try to accommodate you by placing you in a level area. Although we would like to honor the requests for a large space next to undersized vehicles so you can put out chairs and camping gear next to your VW, we CAN’T, for it is basically taking up a complete parking space.

We wish we could accommodate folks with that much extra room around their vehicles, but we are limited on parking spaces. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Special Needs Information

A separate area will be reserved for Handicap parking and camping. The Special Needs Parking Lot is the only parking area where car camping is allowed. Vehicles are permitted in this area to anyone displaying an official handicap placard in their vehicle. We regret to inform you that RVs and trailers are no longer permitted in this area. A handicap person viewing area will be reserved in the concert field. Handicap toilets will be available in both the reserved viewing area and the reserved parking/camping area. Handicap information is also available at the point of ticket sales and at the band merchandise area. If any special assistance in needed please visit one of the two information areas or stop any Event Staffer.We are happy to help.

Service Dogs -The only exception to this is service dogs that are trained for a certain task, such as a guide dog for a blind person. Oregon Law does not recognize dogs or other animals as a service animal unless you are blind, deaf or physically handicapped. They must be trained to perform a certain task, not be simply someone’s companion. What qualifies as a task are such things as a guide dog for the blind, what does not qualify is a companion dog.

Other Information Water & ICE are available on site – Drinking water is also available for no fee. Bring your own containers. Bottled water and Ice are also available for purchase.

Vending – A variety of independent vendors will be selling food and crafts for the duration of the event. Credit card purchases may be available depending on vendor.

ATM – An ATM will be on site. We encourage patrons to bring enough cash to last the entire weekend.

Toilets & Hand washing – Portable toilets and hand washing stations are located throughout the Hideout.

Showers – There are shower stalls located in the vending area part of the amphitheater available for a fee.

Telephones will be available to the public for local calls. Calling cards will be necessary for long distance calls.

A special Kids Area will feature the Horning’s Hideout playground equipment, organized games, crafts and volunteer chaperons. Please stay with your child at all times. Please also take advantage of the free children identification bracelets available in the Kids Area. The children ID bracelets will identify the child and parents name. This year we have also organized a Lost Child Protocol. We request that any parent that becomes separated from their child notify staff or security immediately. When a child is missing all existing vehicles will be stopped so that the identity of any exiting children can be verified. We apologize for any inconvenience that results from this policy. Lets keep our children safe!

Please help the NWSS volunteers keep Horning’s Hideout a clean and beautiful place. We encourage you to take advantage of the free garbage bags available at the front gate and at the band merchandise area. We can use your extra help each night cleaning the concert area after the music ends. Please use both the garbage containers and the recycling containers.

Please also clean up the area around your campsite when you are packing up to leave. Horning’s Hideout is a special place and with your help we hope to keep it that way. A beer tent will be in the concert area. No outside alcohol will be permitted into the concert area. Please help us keep the Hideout clean by picking up after yourself, cleaning up your campsite and using the recycling/trash containers. Back to top of page

Directions to Horning’s Hideout

Horning’s Hideout is located just 35 minutes west of Portland in North Plains, Oregon. From Portland Take Highway 26 West approximately 15 miles to the North Plains/Glencoe Road Exit 57. Turn right (North) from the exit onto Glencoe Road. Take Glencoe Rd. approximately 1.5 miles to a left fork that is Pumpkin Ridge Road. Follow Pumpkin Ridge Rd. for 5 miles to Brunswick Canyon Road, which is an easy to miss gravel road on the right. Follow Brunswick Canyon Road down, down, down into the canyon. If you’re coming from the coast, you can hook up with 26 East from Hwy 101. If you’re coming either North or South on I-5, or on I-84 through The Columbia River Gorge, you’ll drive into Portland and take the I-405 loop to 26 West, then follow the directions above – Horning’s is very easy to find.
